I have used this for a long time. Its a pretty good program for
encoding files to .avi. Actually its a frontend for a number of
different progs (all packaged together) which it installs (which leads
to a fairly protracted install) but works great.


Handbrake -
Video encoding/re-encoding software. I just discovered this one,
cleaner looking all-in-one install (which looks a little more
professional than AutoGK), also has some extra features like x264
encoding, alternate containers such as MKV and preset setting for
ipod/iphone/psp/ps3/xbox360. If it lives up to appearances, this is
what I'll be using from now on (instead of AutoGK).


DVD Decrypter -
An old one but a good one. I still use this lots for doing raw rips of
DVD VOBs (before I feed it into one of the above to create an AVI).
